CleanShot X

When to Choose Each

Choose Snagit if you need paid screenshot-plus-recording on both Windows and Mac and you accept thin product comments this batch. The catalog lists $39 per user per year with no free tier. This batch has almost no product-specific customer feedback, so do not read a parent-brand average as Snagit praise. The store fact is Win/Mac capture; feature depth beyond that is not quoted here.

Choose CleanShot X if you capture on a Mac and want scrolling capture, annotation, recording, OCR, self-timer, and a fast cloud link in one app. User reviews say the scrolling capture plus built-in annotation saves opening a separate editor, and the cloud upload with auto-copied link is fast. It is not free — Pro is about $12 per user per month, or a Basic one-time license. Renewal and major-release licenses bother some users, and one comment says custom self-hosted uploads were removed without notice. CleanShot X is Mac-only.
