What users say

Sejda

"The honest free PDF editor — fair limits, real transparency, no tricks"

Pros

Genuinely free for basic tasks, no signup needed Excellent font matching when editing existing text Transparent pricing and honest free tier limits

PDF24

"The most comprehensive free PDF toolkit — open-source with zero strings attached"

Pros

Genuinely 100% free with no hidden paywalls or subscriptions Full-featured suite with 24 tools including OCR and editing Open-source with no telemetry, no ads, no account required

When to Choose Each

Choose Sejda if you want a fair no-signup free tier (3 tasks per day) and excellent font matching when you edit existing text. Paid plans start at $5/month with honest limits. It is the transparency pick for occasional edits. The free cap is real, and inactivity timeouts can drop unsaved work.

Choose PDF24 if you want a genuinely 100% free, open-source toolkit with 24 tools and no account, ads, or telemetry. Merge, split, compress, convert, sign, edit, OCR, protect, and watermark run in the browser or as a portable German-made desktop app. Privacy-conscious users and anyone who needs OCR without a subscription pick PDF24. The web UI looks dated, and it lacks professional forms and redaction.
